G'day Good Wash People,
Last night we held our first in-person AGM since 2019. We kicked off at around 7pm down in Martha's Bar, and it was bloody fantastic to see such a great turn out, with a good mix of old and new faces! And with a delicious array of food put on by Antonia (Thanks again for this!!) and several beverages going down nicely, we whistled through the agenda at a nice pace, leaving plenty of quality time for a Friday Sesh in the main bar. The prime event of the evening was the election of the committee. We are pleased to announce that... Captain - Max Murrain (formerly VC) Vice Captain - Mark Molloy (formerly Social Sec) Tour Manager - Mike Egan Social Secretary - Charles Hatton have all been newly elected. Congratulations all! Returning for another year unchanged are: Secretary - Brian Wingfield Treasurer - Nick Kripps Fixtures Secretary - Matt Cragoe Chairman - Stuart Marsh We also announced our Tour Destination for the end of 2022, which will be Malta over the weekend of 01/02 October. You will all recall that we had to cancel the tour to this same destination last year due to a lack of numbers, and others will remember how excellent this destination is for late summer cricket. With good interest so far, we look well on the way to getting a solid group of players so please get your names down for that and remember we really do encourage wives, GF's and partners to come along. Looking forward to that already, and for those that haven't been, check it out: https://www.marsasportsclub.com/en/cricket Matt Cragoe delivered a fine oratory on the fixtures list (check WhatsApp for that) and I won't go into every detail that we discussed, but suffice to say Washington CC 50th Anniversary (2023) year, tour and special events promoted a lively chat, so the new committee certainly has a job on it's hands to make sure we get prepped for that. So, with lots of new and old faces around, there really is an air of positivity for the present and future of The Washington CC. So, here's to Smashing 2022 Leather on the park very soon. Cheers all, Stu Marsh Washington CC Chairman
